  • “Do I have anxiety?”

If you think you have some anxious tendencies, then welcome to the club. About 30% of us will experience an anxiety disorder at some point in our lives.

If you are experiencing anxiety, you can tackle it. This blog post does not substitute for professional advice, so I suggest that you make an appointment with your doctor or therapist.

Here are some questions I ask my clients to screen for anxiety.

    In the last two weeks,

*Have you been feeling on edge?

*Have you not been able to stop or control worrying?

*Have you had a tough time relaxing?

    *Have you been restless?

    *Have you been irritable?

*Have you felt scared that something bad might occur?

*If you answered yes to these problems, how challenging have they made it for you to get chores done at home, jobs finished at work, or to get along with others? This last question indicates if the anxious feelings are, in fact, causing you harm.

So now what? If you think you have anxiety, make an appointment with a professional. While you wait for your appointment, try out a coping skill. Lastly, remind yourself that you are not alone in your anxiety.
